Sounds of Faith
"You can make dialogue with talking heads. You have theologians, you have people,
who are intellectuals talks back and forth. They share history. It is important to do that.
Yo can do that in cooperative ways, like building a house together, working on a project.
We are doing that, I think genious of Dr Shakeela Hasan, is to bring us together, and let
us hear. That will go to the heart, not to the head. We will realize that, there is a beauty
in all of our traditions, and we will maybe open our hearts a little wider to each other and
certainly to God"

From times immemorial, people have created sacred sound. These are our
sounds, connecting the spiritual centers of every human organism with the great source
of all being. May they also connect us with more deeply each other.
There are a lot of non-profit organizations who works for developing interfaith
relations, Harran Foundation is one of them but instead of talking they are doing
somethng, bringing together people of Abrahamic Religions and experiencing each
other's practice. They learn to know each other and share their practice and listen
others. Harran Foundation organizes interfaith concerts in sacred locations of
Abrahamic Religions. They alreayd organized more than 9 concerts and works for
spreading their work in different parts of the USA and the world.
I will try to this beautifull effort to attention of the other people. How idea started,
how was the responds from members of religions, how is their feelings?
Synopsis:
Shakeela Z. Hassan is the founder of Harran Foundation, that organizes
interfaith concerts in sacred locations. How she had idea of sounds of faith concerts?
How was the reception of the other people. What are responds and ideas of the
members of different religions? What are their goal, and future dreams? How they feel
about the result? In this documentary we will try to answer these questions and try to
show the people, there is hope for peace and there are people who works for the peace
and there is a succesful sample here
Production History:
We have used 2 cameras on production. When one camera was interviewing
with the people during rehearsals, other one capturing b-rolls.
During the concert we have used 3 cameras, 1st one for close ups, 2nd one for wide
angle, 3rd was for details and audiences, but it seems 3rd one wasn't succesfull, it was
too shaky, dark, and there was too much gain.
After the concert we got some interviews with just 1 camera.
We always used shotgun microphones, and connected one of the camera to the sound
system of the location. Just for some interviews there was some background noise but
we didn't have chance to change the location.
For editing first we listened all interviews and put in an order for selected parts of them,
then organized b-roll according to interviews. We used some archieve footage from one
of previous concerts. We made some color correction but didn't use any music except
natural sound that we recorded on concerts.
